Absorption devices are optimal for applications where there is free or low cost hot energy readily available. Absorption devices have the advantage of low electricity consumption, totalling only approx. 5 kW of electricity per 1 MW of cooling capacity. The devices are always customised for each customer.
The operation of absorption equipment is based on strong absorption of lithium bromide mixture in water. The mixture is pumped with low power process pumps and the heat transfer is based on the evaporation, condensation and absorption of water in different pressures.
Absorption devices are durable, reliable and easy to maintain. COP of a typical absorption cooler reaches 0.7 – 1.0.
Absorption heat pumps are used to heat low input temperature to the level required for the output. COP of a typical absorption heat pump is 1.7 – 2.0.
